Making the connexion with NEET
Every year thousands of young people between the ages of 16-19 leave full-time education. It is the job of organisations such as Connexions Nottinghamshire to help find them work.
Working in partnership with local employers is an important element in achieving Connexions’ key objective – namely to reduce the numbers of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET). Connexions aspires to improve the employability of young people and help them to gain marketable skills.
Connexions needs employers on board to help develop young people and enhance their potential. As an employer, you could perhaps offer jobs, jobs with training or work-based learning.
Teaming up with Connexions can help your business too. We can advertise and promote your vacancies to young people for free. We can co-ordinate your job application process, supporting you throughout your recruitment. If together we can go some way to achieving our objectives, then we are boosting the local economy by ensuring that tomorrow’s workforce is suitably skilled and trained.

We were initially unsure about taking someone on straight from school so didn’t recruit until October. We ended up taking someone on who had left school that summer and I must say that they’re much more mature than we had expected. Young people often get bad press - but we are more then pleased with the way our new recruit is doing.
